Germany have always been a team to follow in the World Cup with consistent good performances and three World Cups to their name.
So quotes of around 14/1 at the start of the tournament looked generous world cup odds.
Germany don't seem to be at quite the level they have been in previous generations but that doesn't necessarily mean they won't perform well as they always seem to get the results on the World Cup stage. If you take the Germany World Cup odds you will have to hope they rise to the tournament as they usually do.
Germany have always been a very efficient team who only do enough to win. It takes a really talented team to beat Germany (knocked out by the winners last two World Cups). Germany's opposition isn't poor but it is pretty average in Group D.
Germany have been somewhat written off this World Cup but the draw has been as kind to them as anyone else, they will avoid the favourites until the semi final and that is where the lack of star players should find them out, most likely semi final opponents are Spain.
Germany kept seven clean sheets in qualifying which shows how well organised their defence is, out of all the teams they play at the World Cup they are unlikely to come up against any weaker strikers than the ones Ghana have, a confident win 'to nil' tip.
Germany are a very strong side but up against three solid if unspectacular teams there is a good chance they could be held to a draw in one of the the three games, most likely Serbia or Australia.
One of the best goalscorers in World Cup history and despite no longer being in his prime he still ended up top scorer for Germany in qualifying with seven goals. His height is a constant threat and he is sure to be amongst the goals.

Germany are a side who might well look better than they are in the group stage agaisnt weaker opposition. This means after a couple of games they will probably shorten in the World Cup odds, when that happens you can lay them on Betfair for a nice profit.
Winner: 25pts; Runner-up: 10pts; Third: 5pts; Fourth: 0pts.
Germany should be solid in the group stage and will probably win their group so should be bought in the Group Index.
